I used copper drops with Lilly Pilly 24 gauge patina sheet that I pressed texture into. I fire colored the metal and textured with a corrugated pattern to represent the lines that went from the gears to the balls. I wanted to do something that was more kinetically inspired but my time was limited. Instead I responded to the rustic texture of the balls and followed through with that theme.
Wonderful interpretation of this months challenge. Super cool and funky!
ReplyDeleteOh you did all my favourite things, using your torch to colour the copper and texturing the metal, love your results and their rustic look. xx
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Lilly Pilly sheet before. I'll have to check that out. How did you create that corrugated texture on the copper discs? That looks really cool! I think you captured the balls well and the discs will still create movement. These will be fun to wear!
ReplyDeleteI think you did amazing with limited time... oh just a little texturing and fire coloring... ;) These are really fun. I especially like the texture in your little drops. They seem like they would have great movement too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I textrized the main body of the earrings ith a paint tube squeezer. I'm sure you can get at your arts and crafts store inexpensively.

Lima Bads has many Lilly Pilly materials that you can get excited about and more artists and brands that I'm sure you will love.
Thank you! Just yesterday I received an email advertising the paint squeezer. How timely! There are always new tools, beads, and supplies to try; I love that (even though my bank account doesn't). :)
DeleteA really beautiful pair of earrings! I love the pretty color of them and I bet the movement of the dangles catches the light! Thank you for sharing your mini kinetic sculptures for the December We're All Ears Challenge. Check back on January 2nd for the next inspiration! Enjoy the day! Erin
ReplyDeleteHow utterly kinetic. How utterly, at the same time, feminine. Outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI like how you textured the rounds and left upper part sort of smooth, fun design.
